Montario Hill

Tenor

Montario was born and raised in the Chaptico area of St. Mary’s County, MD. After realizing that he didn’t want to plant tobacco or corn for the rest of his life, he gravitated towards music. He played the trumpet in middle and high school, but wanted to sing. So he joined the madrigals of Chopticon High School called The Peace Pipers. He participated in the All State and Tri County choruses throughout his term in school. He attended Morgan State University and performed with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Bobby McFerrin, Patti Lupone, and others. Montario graduated with a B.A. in Vocal Music Performance.

He went on to teach in his hometown at Great Mills High School. During his first year, he led his Chamber Singers to an astonishing victory at the Heritage Festival held in South Carolina, winning 1st place amongst all groups which included vocal and instrumental. During the years as a teacher, he has coached many a cappella groups ranging from a co-ed group called Sevenfold to an all male group, Noteworthy, to an all female group, which is now a class offered in St. Mary’s county, called Infinity. After 3 years, he decided that it was time to concentrate on performing. Montario spent the next years of his life in many community theater productions of musicals such as The Producers, RENT, Smokey Joe’s Café, and Dreamgirls.

Montario is now moving up to the DC metro area to branch out more and couldn’t be more excited to commence this new chapter with Vox Pop!!!!! After coaching many groups, he has never performed in one and is so happy to have the support of Vox Pop. Montario is looking forward to doing awesome singing and making some incredible music with these talented musicians!!!!!
